Lets play football again!

The long wait is almost over! Aunty Cindy and Daddy Bloomfield announced that we can play football again! With mass gathering restrictions will be raised to 100, Capital Football have confirmed the 2020 season is finally kicking off.

It’s now time to clean off your boots, go for a run (or in my case casual walk) and make sure you are registered in Comet.  See our registrations page of seniors & juniors

Key dates –

  • From midday 29th May – your team can train together again in groups larger than 10 (talk to your manager, coach or grade coordinator for specific details relating to your team)
  • 6th/7th June – Senior and Youth seasons kick off
  • 13th June – Junior season kicks off

First round draws will be published once Capital Football release them on the 30th of May!

Thanks to our volunteers, our fences have been put up and we are currently restocking the bar. Our club rooms will be open for post-match shenanigans from 6th June. There may be a few limitations but we will do what we can.

The health and well being of our club members is paramount, so keep an eye out for health and safety requirements. It is a key focus for Tawa AFC so we have invested in some things to help – watch this space, more to come.

We can’t wait to see our football family.

Tawa trains again

We are excited to announce that our teams can hit the fields again!

WCC and Tawa have agreed a safe way to train again. There are a couple of things that we still have to do. That being said, the blistering speed of chasing down a through ball can once again be had. Pleased for all of us to get back out there with our mates to play the game.

Few things that we have to do:

  • Training groups can not be more than 10: If you have 15, split into 2 groups. Make sure those groups don’t swap or change. They must maintain 2m social distancing
  • Sanitise our hands: Tawa have purchased plenty of sanitiser for all teams junior and senior. If in doubt, SANITISE. Sanitise before and after training
  • Contact Tracing: For now, a paper form will be circulated around. We are registering for iDMe, the New Zealand Football app. We only need one, if worried though lets use both. With the paper forms, please take a photo after every training and send to admin@tawafootball.org.nz
  • Wash the equipment: Keep the equipment clean and don’t share the equipment between groups of 10

These are all in line with the guidance of MoH and the government. We think these are prudent steps for us to stay safe during this time. I am so very pleased to be able to hit the football pitch again and I hope you are too!

COVID 19, Tawa & Training

Wow what a year 2020 is turning out to be. I hope everyone is keeping well and looking after themselves through the COVID crisis. I want to provide as much information as I to share with you what Tawa is doing to keep our community safe in the transition back to football.

Tawa AFC doesn’t endorse any training under level 2 until the 25th of May. We are going to review this regularly and will update you as things change. There are many things that we must do as a club to get approval prior to starting club training.

MyCOMET Login assistance – Capital Football

Update on MyCOMET logins – message from Capital Football:

Dear Clubs,

As you may be aware some members have not received their individual MyComet usernames and passwords from NZ Football. Capital Football has made the request to NZ Football to resend emails to all members active in Capital Football clubs, which will be sent tomorrow (Saturday 3rd).

In addition to this email, Capital Football has opened a ‘help-desk’ to support the members of our federation with their profiles. The ‘help-desk’ will be available via the email info@capitalfootball.org.nz for members to email in and request their MyComet login details.

This support package is in place to take the workload off club administrators answering individual queries from their members who can’t access MyComet to register for the season.

As a federation we are confident that this system is going to be a huge success going forward and make the administration of football easier for all. Thanks for your support to date – we’re looking forward to reaping the benefits long-term with everyone!

Capital Football will continue to update clubs with information when it comes to hand.

2018 Registration

The Registration system (MyCOMET) is now open for all Junior and Senior Registrations.

Please use your NZ Football issued username and password to access your MyCOMET account.  To register you need to purchase a product appropriate to the level (Senior / Junior – grade) of football the player is at or aged.  For more information please refer to the registration pages under Seniors or Juniors.

New AED for Tawa

Junior Club Captain (Kathryn Henshaw) with the newly installed AED

As a result of successfully re-certifying for the NZ Football Qualmark standard, Tawa AFC received a new AED (automated external defibrillator).  The Club sought grant funding for an external case and last month (August) in-conjunction with the Wellington City Council installed the AED at its Clubrooms at Redwood Park.

The AED has been installed in a locked cabinet outside the Clubrooms and is available 24/7 for use by any person in the community needing an AED when someone is suffering a cardiac arrest.

To open the cabinet and retrieve the AED, call 111 – Ambulance for the access code.
To see where other AED’s are located in your area, download the AED locator app to your phone.
