Welcome to Tawa Football Club

Tawa AFC is a football club located in the Wellington suburb of Tawa and affiliated to Capital Football, a federation member of New Zealand Football.  

The club has both a 'Seniors' and 'Juniors' focus.  Our Senior club runs Mens and Womens teams from Under 17 through to Masters.

Tawa Junior Football looks after the junior side of the club for both boys and girls.  We offer a First Kicks programme for 4-6 year olds, Fun Football for 7-8 year olds, Mini Football for 9-12 year olds, Youth Football for 13-14 year olds and Girls Only leagues for girls aged 6-15.    

Junior Football - 2016 Season

Welcome, the 2016 winter playing season is just around the corner.

Registration: All players regardless of age must register to play football in 2016 using the Club's online registration system.  


For those who would like to register in person a registration evening will be held:

Sunday 14 February
Tawa AFC clubrooms at Redwood Park.

Trials for players wishing to play in the streamed teams for 9th - 14th grades will take place in early March.

Senior Football - 2016 Season.

As with the Juniors, the Senior's season commences shortly. In fact training has already begun. The Caltex Railway Avenue Pre-Season Tournament for the Hilton Petone Cup commences on the 14th of February.

Registration: All players regardless of age or team must register to play football in 2016 using the Club's online registration system.


Fun Football Sunday's

Commences Sunday 31 January for 7 weeks (except for 6th March) 
Time: 2.00pm - 3.15pm
The location is St Francis Xavier School field, Main Road, Tawa. Opposite Nada Bakery.
Players just need to bring boots or sneakers/trainers, shin guards and a drink bottle.
Age: 6-14, from beginner to experienced.
Cost:  FREE

Junior Players - Term 1 Skills Programme

Term 1 Skills programme.  Skills sessions will be run for two age groups (7- 9 year olds / 10 - 12 year olds) under the guidance of James Prosser. Spaces are limited for each session.

Each session will be on a Tuesday for 9 weeks.
7-9 year olds 4.00pm - 5.15pm
10-12 year olds 5.15pm - 6.30pm

Cost: $70 for the full 9 weeks.
Location: Lower field, Grenada North Park, entrance off Caribbean Drive

Players will need to register for the Skills programme using the online registration form HERE

The skills session will be run outdoors on grass.  Players will need to wear either boots or sneakers/trainers, shin guards and bring water bottles.

If due to weather, or for any other reason, a session needs to be postponed or cancelled, notice will be posted to the Club's Facebook page and this website.

Hilton Petone 2016

Come and support our men's Tawa teams.

  • The start date is Sunday 14 February 2016. The two Division finals will be played on 20/21 March. This leaves Easter weekend free prior to the season proper starting one week later.

New Coaching team for Tawa senior teams 2016

The club is pleased to announce the return of Richard Martin as coach of the Tawa first team. Richard who has the record of having played the most number of league games for Tawa returns to this position after a break of four years, having previously coached the team for 7 years taking it to the Central League.

Craig Alderdice who previously played for Tawa returns to assist Richard as will Daniel Wood.

Senior Training 2016

Senior training will commence at Grenada  North Lower ground on Tuesday 12 January at 6.30pm continuing every Tuesdays and Thursdays. All welcome.
