TRAGEDY AFFECTS TAWA MEMBERS

Many current and past Tawa members were shocked by the news that Rob Ayley, the son of ex  Masters Blues player  John Ayley, was the one of the casualties of the terrible Malaysian Airline flight 17 disaster.

The club extends its deepest sympathy to  John, his wife Wendie and Rob’s wife Sharlene and children.

It is intended to observe Rob’s death on Saturday 2nd August at the club and we will taking a collection for Rob’s family. Hopefully as many members as possible will join us.

The brief citation read out on the night for Mike is:

He is very active in the Club‘s day-to-day running and has put substantial effort into gaining community funding for football in Tawa. Mike’s leadership has ensured development of the Club, particularly in negotiation with Wellington City Council in continued enhancement of the pitches, resulting in a promise of a major upgrade at Redwood Park in the not-too-distant future.
